Safez of Roarborne

Safez of Roarborne (appeared 11 December 2025) is a Lionarchic politician and a member of the Central Command of the Lionarchic Roarist Party. He previously led the Lionarchic Roarist Party (LRP) as party leader until he abolished the position and replaced it with the Central Command.

Immediately after he appeared, Safez joined the Lionarchic Roarist Party and succeeded his cousin Scor as party leader. Similarly to Scor, Safez moved numerous family members, friends and close allies into high-ranking positions in the party, which led to significant resistance from several party members. Salah, the most prominent critic, demanded that Safez step down as party leader and democratize party leadership. Following increased pressure, Safez conceded and reorganized the leadership by establishing the Central Command. He attempted to appoint himself as the chairman and select several family members and close allies to join the Central Command, but these moves were met with significant pushback. As a result, the chairman position remained vacant. On 11 May 2026, Safez successfully appointed Scor to the position of chairman and the two selected several family members and close associates to join the Central Command. This was generally regarded as a victory for Safez since he successfully retained his de facto leadership of the party.

Safez improved relations with several important figures to increase his international recognition and acceptance. In February 2026, Safez recovered Spottelina Purr and Juniorientje Purr from the void and returned them to Spot Purr and Junior Purr respectively. While Junior Purr and other high-ranking heads of state initially appeared wary of Safez, this move increased his popularity significantly. The return of Spottelina and Juniorientje, two highly regarded figures in Juniorwood, led to rumblings in the void. This prompted several panthers to appear, including Pantheron, a long-standing nemesis of the Tigerium. Some have alleged this was intended by Safez. He supposedly used the diplomatic gesture to gain international recognition while also profiting from the distraction Pantheron would provide by re-establishing Pantheria. His ties to the panthers became more evident when Montezuma de Corona appeared in June 2026. Safez and Haferys Ishtar, an advisor to Pantheron, established close ties with Montezuma. However, just a few days later, both Safez and Montezuma cut ties with the panthers since Haferys sought to recover Hueyyena and Sobek, fierce rivals of Safez and Montezuma respectively.

Early and personal life

Safez of Roarborne appeared at around 13:30 on 11 December 2025 in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Shortly after Safez's appearance, six more Roarbornes reappeared from the void. Safez briefly headed the House of Roarborne, though he was later succeeded by his uncle, Sulay of Roarborne.

His three children, Sarsel, Sabbar and Saher, appeared in December 2025. Safez's wife, Regina Maluf, appeared on 16 February 2026. They married before they were absorbed into the void, though the exact date of their marriage is unknown.

Lionarchic Roarist Party rule (2025–present)

Safez joined the Lionarchic Roarist Party directly after he reappeared. He succeeded his elder cousin Scor of Roarborne as the new party leader. He immediately began integrating his family into important positions in party leadership. He designated Scor as the leader of the military wing of the party, the Lionarchic Roarist Armed Forces (LRAF). He also moved his cousins Sifad and Sabah to key roles in the party. This sparked significant backlash from several party members who argued Safez was actively practising nepotism. While the party started suffering from internal discontent, it acquired around 15% of the vote during the first election on 2 January 2026.

Power struggle for leadership

The party grew increasingly unstable. The most prominent critic, Salah, threatened to "rip the party in two" if Safez were not to step down as party leader and democratize the party leadership. Safez agreed to the demands and reformed the party structure. On 7 February 2026, he replaced the old leadership with the Central Command, a nine-man council led by a chairman. Safez initially proposed to name himself chairman, but Salah and other critics demanded he take the position of a regular member at most. While Safez accepted these demands as well, he filled the rest of the seats of the Central Command with family and close allies regardless.

While attempting to stabilize the LRP, Safez simultaneously sought to improve his position in the Lionarchy by expanding his military connections. On 13 February 2026, he aligned himself with general Umrad Makharat. Despite military personnel in the Lionarchy being prohibited from expressing political opinions, Umrad was caught toasting to Safez at a social event. While Umrad faced heavy criticism and calls for resignation, Safez's reputation remained relatively unscathed.

International recognition

On 21 February 2026, Safez recovered Spottelina Purr and Juniorientje Purr and escorted them to Juniorwood to meet with Junior Purr and Tijgertje. He handed the two Purrs over to them in an attempt to improve his international reputation and that of the LRP. Tijgertje and Junior stated they greatly appreciated the diplomatic gesture. The event was deemed a success by most party members.

The return of the two Purrs caused rumblings in the void. This resulted in Pantheron and several other panthers appearing. Allegations arose that it was a calculated plan to distract the Tigerian forces and to make them leave Lionarchic territory. Safez denied this and stated it was not his intention to make the panthers reappear. He added that he was not affiliated with Pantheron either. The latter statement was quickly proven false, as it was revealed that Safez held close ties to Haferys Ishtar, a Pantherian politician linked to Pantheron.

Increasing prominence

While his international reputation had significantly improved, he still faced heavy competition from other political parties in the Lionarchy. The left-wing in particular was heavily fragmented. Prominent parties included the Communist Lionparty (CLP), Lionish Socialist Movement (LSG), Socialist People's Party (SPV), Socialist Union Party of the Lionarchy (SUPL) and the Saharist National Covenant (SNC). In order to strengthen the LRP's position, Safez sought to impose his ideology on the other parties. He argued that if this were to be done successfully, voters wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the left-wing parties and the LRP. They would supposedly then vote for the LRP since it was generally considered the most prominent party on the left.

Alliance with the LSNP

Safez initiated negotiations with the far-right Lionish Social Nationalist Party (LSNP) led by Amin Zambada. Safez sought to overthrow the cabinet at the time (Mufasa I) by imposing a vote of no confidence. While Mufasa I was a minority cabinet, Safez first improved relations with Zambada. Both Safez and Zambada publicly stated their negotiations were successful. Safez called it "an unbreakable alliance between two natural allies". Zambada later revoked LSNP-support for the cabinet and a vote of no confidence was successfully passed on 25 February 2026.

The democratization of the party structure, the recovery of the two Purrs and the growing image of the LRP as the major left-wing party, were met with a boost in popularity. During the next election on 26 February 2026, the Lionarchic Roarist Party acquired nearly 20% of the vote, a five-percentage-point increase from its previous result. Safez was generally credited with this success and his popularity increased in the party. Throughout March and April, internal discontent and criticism towards Safez lessened because of the party success attributed to his actions.

Consolidating power

The Lionarchic Roarist Party suffered an electoral loss during the election in May 2026. Despite having lost seats, the LRP participated with four other political parties in the first Nasser cabinet. Safez started deliberately portraying Salah as an anti-state rebel, arguing that his resistance and harsh stance towards the Roarborne family could be interpreted as a threat to national security. He added it would be justified to act undemocratically to ensure Salah and other potentially disloyal party members could not attain power. Safez proceeded to successfully appoint his cousin Scor as the new chairman of the Central Command. Together, they appointed other family members and close associates into the Central Command as well. While Scor was appointed chairman, Safez was still seen as de facto leader of the party. This was generally considered the end of the power struggle between Salah and Safez and a victory for the latter. Scor and Safez later decided to appoint Mustass Musa to the position of chairman, who was generally considered Safez’s right-hand man.

Assassination attempt on Mufasa

Safez and his allies publicly declared that the power struggle with Salah had ended and added that they would continue to consolidate power throughout the Lionarchy. Mufasa, leader of the National Lionparty (NLP), was outraged at these statements and rejected them fiercely. On 30 May 2026, Mufasa was ambushed and nearly killed. While he survived and suffered only mild injuries, he fled to the Tigerium. The Tigerium granted him permanent citizenship shortly after his arrival. Safez publicly shamed Mufasa, calling him cowardly for fleeing. He added that he was not responsible for the assassination, though several political opponents called this into question.

Banning the National Lionparty

Safez later proposed two new laws in the National Congress of the Lionarchy. His first proposal was to introduce an electoral threshold of 10 seats (4%). He also proposed that parties without a clear party leader cannot participate in elections. While his first proposal was swiftly accepted, the latter proved highly controversial, because it effectively banned the NLP following Mufasa‘s escape. However, opposing representatives were later barred from the National Congress and thus absent from the vote, resulting in the laws passing regardless.

Intervention in the LSNP

In February 2026, Safez allied with Amin Zambada, the leader of the LSNP at the time. Their alliance, based solely on strategic purposes, practically ceased to exist after a few weeks since they fundamentally disagreed on several issues. Instead, Safez grew much closer to Shadid of Sorbonne, a member of the LSNP who deeply distrusted Zambada.

On 31 May 2026, Shadid prepared to overthrow Zambada. He sent Shima of Sorbonne, Safi and Ibrim Douba to seize important party positions. Safez sent LRAF forces to aid them in removing Zambada from power. The seizure of power was successful, and Shadid proclaimed himself the new leader of the LSNP. Safez and Shadid began a new alliance, which was generally considered much more stable than the Safez-Zambada alliance.

Throughout late July 2026, Safez also established close ties with Ibrim Douba. In return for loyalty, Safez promised him a high-ranking security position if he were to become the president, despite at the time the country still being a constitutional monarchy, thus having no presidency.

Improving his reputation

In late May 2026, Safez started an aggressive media campaign to increase his popularity significantly. While he initially focused solely on his popularity in the Lionarchy, he later sought to strengthen his international position as well. In the Tigerium in particular, Safez's public image deteriorated significantly following the assassination attempt on Mufasa and the intervention in the LSNP aided by the LRAF. While he denied any involvement in both events, he was deemed a suspect by most tigers. In order to restore his international reputation, he decided to visit several countries.

Visits to Juniorwood

On 31 May 2026, a few hours after he helped Shadid seize power in the LSNP, he visited the Purr family along with Sultan of Roarborne and Mustass Musa. During the meeting, Safez expressed that he did not desire to expand Lionarchic territory, instead preferring to focus on Lionarchic politics and improving the national welfare. He later refuted the claims that he was undemocratic, but also noted that that Juniorwood and the Tigerium were monarchic, and thus undemocratic themselves. He also argued autocratic systems aren't always deplorable and that they are often more efficient than their democratic counterparts.

On 1 June 2026, Safez sent his wife's nephews, Rex Maluf, Rami Maluf and Ramzi Maluf, to improve relations with Juniorwood on his behalf. Similarly to Safez's earlier recovery of Juniorientje Purr and Spottelina Purr, they recovered several plushies. This included Palah and Huntrix Caesar, which Junior appreciated. They also recovered Tante Tijger Crave and Bibi Crave and handed them over to the Crave family, a family close to the Purrs.

Tigerium

Safez also attempted to visit the Tigerium. He requested to be invited to the dinner on Tijgertje's 19th birthday. However, the request was denied for security concerns. In July 2026, Tigranes, a prominent figure in the Tigerian military, appeared. Safez ordered one of his most trusted officers, Mustass Musa, to befriend him to establish closer ties to the Tigerium.

Friendship with Montezuma de Corona

Shortly after Montezuma de Corona appeared on 5 June 2026, Safez and Haferys Ishtar travelled to meet up with him. Montezuma initially sought to establish friendly relations with the Tigerium and Juniorwood only. When Safez and Haferys arrived and met with him, Montezuma changed his stance and established close ties with the Lionarchy as well. While he avoided any connections with Pantheria, the three befriended each other regardless.

While initially considered stable, their friendship quickly deteriorated. Safez and Montezuma were wary of appearing close to Haferys. They understood appearing close to panthers could heavily strain future attempts at improving relations with the Tigerium in particular. Haferys on the other hand sought to solely strengthen Pantheria and weaken the Tigerium. He made moves to recover the Chieftan of Hyenia, Hueyyena, and later also the Rex of Crocodilia, Sobek, from the void. He planned to use the hyenas and crocodilians to re-establish the "Pantherian hegemony", in particular by re-subjugating the rats, mice, elephants, hippopotamuses, rhinoceroses and primates. This deeply offended Safez since lions and hyenas have generally been considered arch-rivals throughout history. Montezuma expressed feeling insulted as well following the attempts to recover Sobek. Safez's hatred for hyenas and Montezuma's emnity towards crocodilians led to both cutting ties with Haferys, whom they blamed for the reappearances of hyenas and crocodilians. Safez and Montezuma remained close, and became increasingly known as "best friends".

On 20 June, Safez and his wife Regina watched the FIFA world cup match between the Netherlands and Sweden with Montezuma and Zumi. Safez and Montezuma celebrated when the Dutch team won with 5-1. Shortly after the conclusion of the match, Junior Purr and Juniorientje Purr were the target of an assassination attempt. While Junior was unharmed, Juniorientje was injured and quickly transported to a local hospital. Juniorientje's condition was later revealed to be stable, though she and Junior expressed feeling deeply shocked. Safez and Montezuma later stated they also felt shocked and sent their best wishes to Junior and Juniorientje.
