Safez of Roarborne

Safez of Roarborne (re-emerged 11 December 2025) is a Lionarchic politician and a member of the House of Roarborne. He is currently a Viceroy of the Central Command of the Lionarchic Roarist Party (LRP). He previously led the LRP as party leader until he abolished the title when he reorganized the party hierarchy and named himself Viceroy.

Safez's early party leadership was characterized by the appointment of several of his family members into key portfolios in the LRP. Senior party member Salah, alongside several other members, demanded the party to become more democratic. Safez accepted the demands and reorganized the party hierarchy by establishing the Central Command. He attempted to consolidate power by naming himself Chairman while he filled the rest of the Central Command with his family and close allies. Salah and other critics threatened to "rip the party in two" if Safez officially named himself Chairman, forcing him to take the position of Viceroy instead. Safez started improving relations with several other politicians after, mainly those of left-wing parties. This development is attributed to be one of the causes for the LRP rising in popularity. The rise in prevalence allegedly prompted Safez to start conspiring against the government with general Umrad Makharat and later also Shadid of Sorbonne, at the time the leader of the LSNP.

Early life

Family and background

Safez of Roarborne re-emerged from the void on 11 December 2025 in Eindhoven. He is a member of the House of Roarborne, an affluent Solarite family with historical ties to the government. He is the fourth child of Sulay of Roarborne, following his three older brothers Scor, Sifad and Sabah.

In February 2026 Regina Maluf re-emerged from the void, after which Safez reportedly contacted Regina. Several biographical reports specify Regina as the biological mother of Safez's children, which sparked rumours around an alleged pre-void relationship between the two. Safez confirmed the two are in a relationship but maintains it as a private matter, expressing a desire to "safeguard her privacy". The pair confirmed they have five children, their daughter Rune and four sons including Sarsel, Sabbar, Saher and Sahid.

Lionarchic Roarist Party rule (2025-present)

On 1 December 2025, the Lionarchy adopted a constitutional monarchy with democratic elections. Following this, Scor of Roarborne, the leader of the Lionarchic Roarist Armed Forces (LRAF), signed a peace treaty with the government, which allowed Scor and the LRAF to maintain military influence in regions with Solarite dominated populations. Additionally, Scor was allowed to establish the Lionarchic Roarist Party (LRP) and became its leader until Safez re-emerged from the void on 11 December, whereupon he ceded party leadership to him.

Safez's early rule of the party was characterized by the integration of his family into key positions of the party. Most notably, he kept Scor as leader of the LRAF and appointed Sifad of Roarborne to foreign affairs. Documents indicated growing internal discontent within the party about the appointment of primarily Roarbornes. However, the LRP still saw growth in popularity. During the elections on 2 January 2026, the Lionarchic Roarist Party obtained 15% of the votes, acquiring 39/250 seats in the National Congress. In February 2026, Safez improved relations with several left-wing parties and urged them to follow the LRP's political aims. The LRP was now widely reported in media as the primary left-wing alternative, a development that resulted in an increase in the LRP's popularity while most rival left-wing parties saw a drop in approval.

Democratization of the party

Around February 2026, discontent grew among senior party members who were displeased about the integration of primarily Roarbornes into key positions of the party. One of the discontent members, Salah, sought to establish a more democratic party leadership contrary to Safez's one-man rule. He demanded Safez step down and the party to become directed by a democratic council. According to Safez, the growing pressure from senior members in the party forced him to resign as leader and establish the Central Command of the Lionarchic Roarist Party. It was a nine-man council, consisting of one chairman and eight viceroys. Safez initially proposed to name himself Chairman, but Salah and other officials demanded he take the rank of Viceroy instead. Another senior party member, Abdul of Hashemane, reportedly opposed dynastic rule by the Roarbornes and advised Safez to accept the demands, as Salah had now made public statements wanting to start an "anti-Roarborne front" to remove the Roarbornes from the LRP. Following these events, Safez elected himself as Viceroy alongside Abdul of Hashemane and Scor of Roarborne. The position of Chairman remained vacant.

Safez actively sought to consolidate his power in the Central Command regardless of the internal opposition led by Salah. He notably designated Sifad of Roarborne as another Viceroy while he also improved relations with the House of Hashemane. Later he appointed Faisal of Hashemane as another Viceroy of the Central Command. While the Hashemanes publicly opposed dynastic rule, they actively supported Safez in his attempts to centralize authority under his command. Analysts concluded the Hashemanes supported Safez since they severely disliked Salah, though none of the Hashemanes have confirmed this. Safez also appointed Reza Maluf to the role of Viceroy, who is the head of the Maluf family, which has been widely regarded in media as closely tied to the House of Roarborne. Safez also continued consolidating his influence by opening friendly relations with Shadid of Sorbonne, the leader of the Lionish Socialist National Party. Later, general Umrad Makharat was reported attending the meetings between Safez and Shadid. The media widely covered the alleged relations between Makharat and the Roarists, among the various allegations against Makharat, the most prominent one was the reported toast to Safez at a party. The event was highly documented by the press and was widely regarded as definitive proof of Makharat's pro-Roarist stance.

The allegations gave rise to broad mistrust in the royalist government among civilians, who voiced their concerns about the support for the LRP by several military officers, primarily referring to Makharat. King Leeuwtje of Orleons reacted to the allegations by stating that "military personnel must remain unaffiliated and neutral on politics". Salah, who was still a public critic of Safez, accused him of attempting to stage a coup alongside Shadid and Makharat. The rivalry between Safez and Salah worsened when Safez stated he would "remove the enemies from within". Following the allegations, Safez and several other Viceroys in the Central Command rejected Salah's nomination as Viceroy. Salah publicly contested the rejection, accusing Safez of prioritizing the consolidation of power around his family and removing opposition to ensure his continued authority. Safez defended the decision to reject Salah by saying that party leadership should remain exclusive to his allies and members of the Roarborne family. He dismissed Salah as incompetent and added that the Central Command collectively decided against his appointment. Around this time the LRP also saw a halt in its consistent growth in popularity, which analysts blamed on the controversies and internal rivalry.

Improving relations

On 21 February 2026, Safez recovered Spottelina Purr and Juniorientje Purr and escorted them to Juniorwood to meet with Junior Purr and Tijgertje of Tigerium. Safez sought to improve relations with both the Tigerium and Juniorwood by handing the two Purrs over to Junior, a diplomatic gesture which Tijgertje and Junior stated they greatly appreciated. The diplomatic mission was widely regarded as a success since the Tigerium and Juniorwood sent diplomats shortly after to meet with Safez and his brother Sifad of Roarborne. The initiative was met with internal backlash however as several party members deemed it contradictory to traditional Roarist principles. One of the critics, Kareem, said all ties to monarchies should be severed. Safez defended the initiative saying international recognition is essential for the growth and popularity of the party.

Political ideology and beliefs

Safez was originally a devout Roarist and supported the complete abolition of the monarchy in favour of a republican system, where democratic elections would determine the political course of the government. Safez was initially firmly anti-monarchist, aligning with several radical Roarists and calling for a revolution against the House of Orleons, the royal house of the Lionarchy. However, his stance grew less radical after advocating for better relations with the Tigerium and Juniorwood, despite both being absolute monarchies. He argued that maintaining friendly relations with foreign powers, regardless of their governance, was essential for both Lionarchic and international stability.

Roarbornism

Safez's political ideas gradually shifted to a hybrid ideology of Roarism and his own principles, often referred to as Roarbornism, which is widely regarded as a later and highly personalized variant of Roarism. Its ideas position the members of the House of Roarborne and Safez in particular as the total and divine leaders of the Lionarchy. The ideology combines Solarite nationalism, sectarianism, militarism and a cult of personality around the Roarbornes.

While Roarbornism shares the traditional Roarist support for a centralized army and opposition to economic decentralization, it diverges in its stance towards monarchies, the treatment of ethnicity and the control of public institutions. Roarbornism notably takes a different stance towards monarchies than traditional Roarism, arguing that friendly relations with other countries and subsequently also monarchies, are essential for stability. However, both ideologies oppose the rule of a monarchy in the Lionarchy. Additionally, Roarbornism seeks to establish an exclusive democracy and to divide the Lionarchic population into a three-tiered social hierarchy. This social structure elevates Solarites to first-rank citizens while Savalions are designated as second-rank citizens. The other ethnicities are degraded to third-rank citizens, losing the rights to vote and to hold bureaucratic positions. Finally, both Roarism and Roarbornism aim to move all public institutions into the hands of the state, though Roarbornism seeks to move these institutions specifically into the possession of the Roarborne family and its close allies.

Roarbornism is frequently contrasted with other variants of Roarism, including Saharism and Neo-Roarism. Both Saharism and Neo-Roarism are non-dynastic and more socialist than Roarbornism. Saharism aims to focus less on Lionarchic-nationalism, focusing instead on establishing a full democratic political system, the removal of the monarchy and the non-corrupt handling of state institutions. Neo-Roarism on the other hand is widely described as a far-left variant of Roarism. Neo-Roarism abandoned nationalist principles and instead adopted radical leftist doctrines such as revolutionary socialism.

Personality

Safez is widely characterized as a pragmatic strategist and is seen as notoriously intolerant of dissent. Observers note that he appears to have a profound sense of loyalty to his own family and sees any opposition to him or his family as a personal betrayal. Safez also confirmed he sees the Solarite community superior to the other Lionarchic ethnicities. Additionally, experts concluded that Safez uses his charm strategically to gain influence in politics. Safez appears primarily devoted to his eldest son Sarsel, who he considers his heir. However, Safez has granted his other sons important political positions as well.
