Politics of the Tigerium

The Tigerium is a semi-constitutional monarchy. A hereditary monarch, currently Tijgertje, serves as head of state while the prime minister of the Tigerium leads the government.

Though under the constitution the prime minister is formally designated as head of government, the royal family retains significant influence. The monarch appoints the prime minister after which the prime minister and the crown minister appoints the other ministers. The crown prince, who is always a member of the royal family and directly elected by the monarch, is generally regarded as serving in the solely interest of the royal family. As the crown minister can veto every bill, the royal family holds de facto absolute authority over the Tigerium.

The parliament consists of one unicameral chamber, the Royal Assembly of the Tigerium. It holds 500 seats which are divided among Tigerian political parties each general election corresponding to the amount of their acquired votes.
