The Templo Mayor is the main temple of Tenochtitlan in the Aztec Empire. It has two shrines, directed to Huitzilopochtli and Tlaloc.
The first version of the Templo Mayor was built in the Second Aztec Empire. It consisted of primarily quartz and had two shrines on the top of the temple. In the Fourth Aztec Empire it was rebuilt but with sandstone instead. This version also included the 2 shrines. It was later rebuilt again in the Fifth Aztec Empire. This version primarily consisted of quartz and some details were done with terracotta.
