History

Baltazar Vega, better known as "El Balza", is a notorious and violent drug trafficker in Sinaloa. He had close ties to the Arellano brothers and Jesus Gutierrez, both leaders of the Tijuana Plaza. The Tijuana Plaza's boss was known as Alberto Falcon. Due to Balta's close ties to the others, Falcon allowed him to traffick narcotics through Tijuana.

Balta served as an independent drug trafficker through Tijuana, alongside various others. Independent drug traffickers would pay a large tax to transport their narcotics through the plaza. Another independent drug trafficker was Ismael Zambada, also known as El Mayo. Eventually, they became close associates. Notably, Balta's son married El Mayo's daughter.

Their close bond made them work together. Eventually, both Mayo and Balta merged their operations. Whilst Mayo was more succesful, Balta had a large army of sicarios. The merge of their organizations made them formidable drug traffickers.

Eventually Alberto Falcon was murdered by Felix Gallardo. The Arellano brothers allowed the independent drug traffickers to keep using the Tijuana Plaza despite Falcon's death.

Eventually, the Guadalajara Cartel collapsed, turning the Tijuana Plaza into the Tijuana Cartel. Peace remained in Mexico for a while, which was good for Mayo's and Balta's business.

Ultimately, peace would not last, and a violent conflict between the Tijuana Cartel and Sinaloa Cartel would emerge, after the Arellano brothers killed a high ranking Sinaloa druglord, Armando Lopez, known as "El Rayo".

Jesus Gutierrez was murdered by the Arellano brothers, which caused the conflict to become larger. The Arellano brothers attempted to assassinate various figures, amongst these were Mayo and Balta. This made them decide to join the Sinaloa Cartel.

El Mayo became one of the Sinaloa Cartel's dons. El Balta became a high ranking lieutenant. Balta allegedly murdered Javier Arellano, which made Balta a target to the Arellanos. Whilst staying in a safehouse with his son and his daughter-in-law, they were assassinated. It is unknown who was reponsible for the deaths, but there are rumours the Arellanos or the Black Hand was responsible.
