The Beardom is a state and functions as a constitutional dual monarchy, with the first royal family being the House of Habsclaw and the second being the House of Beernadotte. The government is made up of the royals as well as the legislature, including the House of Representatives and the Senate. Democratic elections are usually held every two months. When the election results are concluded, the participating political parties receive a corresponding number of seats in the legislative chambers based on their share of votes. The largest political party often leads the formation of a coalition, which needs a majority to function stably. The head of the coalition is the prime minister, which is currently Beertje Bacon. The exact date of the Beardom's establishment is disputed. The official establishment is traced to 27 May 2014, the birth date of Beertje Bacon. Others trace it to 24 October 2025, when the Beardom adopted a democratic system. The capital is Beerdam. The Beardom is inhabited by six distinct races and the national currency is the Beardom Claw.

Etymology

The name Beardom is derived from the species of bears as well as the frequently used -dom in words such as kingdom and popedom.

History

Ancient antiquity

Early bear habitation is primarily documented through early archeological findings. These findings indicate large scale agrarian development, fishing and honey production. Beerdam, the capital city, was founded in the ancient ages. The ancient period was further characterized by the distinct demographic separation of Brown Bears and Maple Bears. Brown Bears typically inhabited larger cities and lived in more lush and temperate biomes, while Maple Bears primarily lived in cold forests.

Historical evidence suggests this period of separation ended with the integration of both groups into one unified state. Records however indicate this unified state was short-lived as it collapsed soon after it's unification. During the late antiquity period, the several Beardom tribes likely became prominent trading hubs.

Panther Age

It is alleged that during the Panther Age several different tribes unified into the Beardom. The Habsclaws claim they ruled the Beardom during this period. During the Panther Wars, the Bears sided with the Tigerium against Pantheria. Tigrish, king of the Tigerium at the time, opened the void, which absorbed all the Beardom citizens, effectively dismantling the Beardom.

Current Age

On 27 May 2014, Beertje Bacon returned from the void. Following his return, he re-established the Beardom. Beertje Bacon ruled as monocrat for eleven years. When he established the Beardom, he initially sided with the Tigerium against Tijgeron though later joining Tijgeron's side against the Tigerium. After being aligned with Tijgeron for several years, Beertje Bacon broke ties with him as well as openly apologized to Tijgertje of Tigerium, the queen of the Tigerium. Tijgertje accepted his apology and the two re-established friendly relations.

October Protests

The Beardom was relatively stable up to late 2025. In may of that year, Beertje Maple escaped the void. Large amounts of bears saw Beertje Maple as a bear-equivalent of Tijgertje, and sought to depose Beertje Bacon.

Though Beertje Bacon and Beertje Maple had no direct quarrel, supporters of both sides clashed during the October Protests. Tigrish, older brother of Tijgertje, stepped in and negotiated a compromise between the two.

Supporters of Beertje Bacon didn't want to change their monocratic leader's rule, and stated that he was already accepted by Tijgertje for a long time, as well as having a lot more experience than Beertje Maple. Supporters of Beertje Maple argued it was time for change and Beertje Maple could be a well-governing queen, similarly to Tijgertje. Both sides openly saw Tijgertje as a "great leader".

The popular solutions were that Beertje Bacon is deposed and Beertje Maple is crowned as queen, Beertje Maple is exiled to the Tigerium and Beertje Bacon remains in power, or Beertje Bacon and Beertje Maple marry and form a monarchy. However, neither Beertje Bacon or Beertje Maple saw these three solutions as fit. Tigrish and the two bears met up and came with the solution to keep Beertje Bacon as prime minister but to crown Beertje Maple as a constitutional monarch, limiting her power and making her purely a symbolic icon.

Establishment of Democracy

This satisfied all Bacon-supporters and Maple-supporters, but during the October Protests the Sibears had risen up as well. They wanted independence because they argued they had no Sibears in the government. On the 18th of October, Beertje Maple married the Sibearian leader, Beertje Bor. Because of this event the Sibearian protests ceased, and the October Protests officially ended. Soon after the protests had ended, Beertje Bacon came with a major change. He declared the Beardom to be turned into a democracy, with the first elections appearing on October 25th-26th. Elections would appear every two months, there would be two legislative chambers, an upper chamber and a lower chamber, all bears gained the right to vote and bears with enough support could establish a political party.

Beertje Bacon and his brother, Crystal Master, formed the Constitutionele Berenpartij (CBP), the Constitutional Bear Party in English. The CBP also immediately gained most votes out of all parties, making Beertje Bacon a prime minister.

Several other parties were established as well, including the VBB, BSAP, Beer25, G66, GP, MMP, BVV, BP, PB, PaPa, APvV, BVD, SVP, LBB, WBB, KvK, BL and the PvaB.

The CBP, VBB, Beer25, ASC and BP formed the first coalition, Cabinet Bacon I. On November 2nd, LBB, WBB and BL were banned due to their "extremism", which caused unrest though eventually the unrest faded away again. Later during november, several other parties were established, including the GSSP, VSB and the KRV.

During december the Beardom remained relatively calm and Bacon I survived the entire term, prompting new elections to be held on 25 December 2025. The results will come in on 26 December 2025.

Inhabitants

There are several different types of inhabitants in the Beardom. The population is divided into several groups:

Brown Bears

Brown bears are the largest group in the Beardom. There are several types of brown bears as well. There's actual brown-coloured bears, but also tan-coloured bears and dark brown-coloured bears. All three groups are considered brown bears. The House of Habsclaw, one of the two royal houses, consists of purely brown bears.

Maple Bears

Maple bears are the second largest group, effectively being brown bears. Their difference is that maple bears are born in the province, Mancada. Additionally, maple bears are always brown. Beertje Maple, a maple bear, is the head of the royal House of Beernadotte.

Sibears

Sibears are white-coloured bears born in Sibearia. Beertje Bor is the long-time leader of the Sibears and married Beertje Maple on October 18th, 2025.

Honey Bears

Honey bears are yellow-coloured bears born in Honingen

Panda Bears

Panda bears are white and black-coloured bears born in Panchin and occasionally in Honingen.

Koala Bears

Koala bears are gray-coloured bears born in Koalapore.

Government & Politics

The government consists of the two royal families as well as the current cabinet, headed by the prime minister and made up by approximately ten other ministers. The legislature in the country passes the laws, which the four monarchs symbolically accept as well.

Dual Monarchy

The dual monarchy in the Beardom consists of the House of Habsclaw and House of Beernadotte.

Legislature

The bicameral legislature in the Beardom consists of a upper house, the Senate, and the lower house, the House of Representatives. The legislature creates and passes new laws.

Upper House

The upper house in the Beardom is the Senate. The Senate has 75 seats. Each seat is voted by the representatives of the provincial councils. The Senate can only approve or decline bills proposed by the House of Representatives. The Senate also monitors the government.

Lower House

The lower house in the Beardom is the House of Representatives. It has 150 seats, and is directly elected through democratic elections. Bears can vote for a representative of a certain party, which will add a vote to that specific representative as well as the party as a whole. The House of Representatives can submit bills that then have to be approved by the Senate. Anyone of the 150 representatives can submit a new bill, which prompts a vote for all 150 members. Each member will vote in favour or against the submitted bill.

However, primarily the coalition submits laws. If the coalition has a majority, the bill immediately passes through the House of Representatives. Then the senate has to approve or dissaprove of the bill.
