The Constitutional Bearparty (Dutch: Constitutionele Berenpartij, CBP) is the oldest political party in the Beardom generally described as centrist. The party was founded by Beertje Bacon on 24 October 2025 following his resignation as monocrat. The party currently holds 36 seats in the House of Representatives.

Beertje Bacon, who leads the party, became prime minister following the election on 25 October 2025. The Constitutional Bearparty has played a crucial role in the transition from the Bearish monocratic system to a democracy. Under Beertje Bacon, the party led the first few cabinets which were generally regarded as stable, mostly credited to avoiding extremist parties and the consistent majority their cabinets held in the House of Representatives.

History

The CBP was the first political party in the Beardom, established on the 24 October 2025 by Beertje Bacon. Bacon previously ruled the Beardom for 11 years as monocrat. He voluntarily resigned after continuous protests, often named the October protests. It was mainly his voluntarily resignation which kept Bacon popular. Around 20-30% of the population still favoured Beertje Bacon's reign, which resulted in continuous high results for the Constitutional Bearparty.

Following the elections on 25 October 2025, the CBP won with 30 seats and needed to find a majority in government to form the first cabinet. Beertje Bacon often stated it was a difficult task, saying it is the first cabinet to be formed in the entire world with nothing to draw inspiration from. Beertje Bacon started negotiations with several political parties and shortly after concluded the most successful cabinet would consist of his CBP, the Free Bear League (VBB), Bear25, the General Social Contract (ASC) and the Bearest Party (BP). Soon after, the cabinet was formally established and Beertje Bacon started his tenure as Prime Minister of the Beardom.

Term

The cabinet mainly aimed to focus on two issues, that being the establishment of a stable democracy and the improvement of the army. It was primarily the CBP and ASC, both the more centrist-aligned parties, which aimed to improve the democratic system while the VBB wanted to focus on the economy. Beer25 and BP mainly aimed to improve the army, stating it had failed to restore order during the October Protests. However, all five parties agreed on most issues, and with a majority in the House of Representatives they were able to pass most of their proposed bills.

The cabinet suffered from some controversies, the main ones being the somewhat-extremist Bearest Party participating in the government and Beertje Bacon's attempts to democratize other countries as well. Bacon responded to the controversies surrounding the Bearest Party stating they needed all the support they could get to gain a constitutional majority and that they're "not so different from Beer25". As the controversies surrounding BP calmed down, Bacon stopped support for the monarchist government of the Lionarchy during the Lionarchic civil war, saying they'd need to adopt a democratic system to receive military support again. The action was mainly done as one of the belligerent of the civil war, the Lionarchic Roarist Armed Forces (LRAF), sought to establish a parliamentary republic, which Bacon agreed with more. However, since the LRAF was not favoured by most of the allies of the Beardom, Bacon decided not to support them, but instead withdraw from the civil war as a whole. In response to the threatened Bearish withdrawal, Leeuwtje of Orleons, the King of the Lionarchy and the head of the monarchist government, stated a democratic system would be adopted and the first elections would take place in early January 2026. Bacon decided to reinstate the support again until a ceasefire between the belligerents of the civil war was signed in mid-December 2025.

The cabinet came to a constitutional end on 26 December 2025 as it had lasted two months, the maximum amount of time a cabinet could last during peacetime.

The centre-aligned political parties had surged in popularity, with the CBP growing from 30 to 40 seats in the polls. However, the CBP later suffered a huge loss in popularity which is widely attributed to the Five Star Movement (VSB) splitting from the CBP. Its leader, Rasher, was widely regarded as one of the most popular members of the CBP, and his leave to establish a new party showed internal instability within the CBP. Beertje Bacon tried to ignore the problems with the VSB and Rasher during the campaigns for the elections on 26 December 2025. Largely ignoring the problems, the CBP ended up acquiring 32 seats in the House of Representatives, a net gain of 2 seats. However, many members were still disappointed, having hoped to acquire more seats.

Formation

Beertje Bacon aimed to avoid as many controversies as possible and decided to opt for a stable government and invited the former partners during Bacon I including Bear25, the Free Bear League (VVB) and the General Social Contract (ASC). However, Beertje Bacon had purposefully not invited the Bearest Party (BP) because of the controversies it fostered during cabinet Bacon I. BP also saw a significant loss in relevance, going from six to two seats in the House of Representatives, which made them non-essential for a new government according to Beertje Bacon.

Term

Cabinet Bacon II started relatively stable and the general idea was that they would continue until late-February. However, on 7 January 2026, Tijgeron of Pantharyen seized power in the Royal Primate and declared himself as the new Primator's Strongest, having defeated the former leader, Goros. It prompted a civil war in the Royal Primate, though the main concern became Tijgeron's plan to invade other countries and kill the members of the Royal House of the Tigerium and its allies. Beertje Bacon stated he sees the Beardom as an ally of the Tigerium, and following an Tigerian intervention into the Royal Primate, Bacon offered to aid assistance, providing the Tigerian forces with garrisons, while the Tigerian forces could continue their attempt to remove Tijgeron from power.

The war caused the cabinet to last longer than usual and was still active after late-February. When a peace treaty was signed in the Royal Primate on 15 March 2026, Beertje Bacon allowed the garrisoned soldiers to return to the Beardom, after which elections would be held.

Following the elections on 18 March 2026, Cabinet Bacon III started and was generally deemed very stable similarly to the previous Bacon cabinets. It continued with the same political parties that had worked together during cabinet Bacon II, being CBP, VBB, Beer25 and ASC. The government was seen as exceedingly stable and the four political parties together had seen a net growth in popularity.

Though initially not much occurred, later in March Beertje Bacon convinced the leaders of the Tigerium, Juniorwood, Pigtopia, Foxville and Quack Valley to adopt democratic systems. This newfound democratic wave later also spread to the Royal Primate and Rayak. Most countries however did not start

Beertje Bacon was publicly hailed for his pro-democratic stance and success in making authoritarian governments accept democratic systems in the future, which later also earned Beertje Bacon the nickname of "bringer of democracy". The CBP saw a significant rise in popularity due to Bacon's increasing success and popularity.

During late-March, the cabinet fell into controversies when its members started talking about implementing an electoral threshold. They argued the House of Representatives was too fragmented and that it would make co-operation difficult in the future, with at that time already around 20 political parties holding at least one seat while there were talks of even more political parties forming. The ideas caused widespread chaos among the smaller political parties, which could disappear if the law passed. Several smaller parties merged to avoid the threat of disappearing from the House of Representatives, including Order for Order (OVO) and the United Marxist Party (VMP).
