Another reason for not rebuilding Basra was that there weren't enough people to inhabit that city aswell. This led to the city remaining in ruins.

Hamas accepted this and created one goal, destroying the Kingdom of Jerusalem. A war would follow, but Hamas did not succeed in defeating the Kingdom of Jerusalem. The war continues to this day, however, the war has active and inactive moments.
