	Following this, the Aztecs made a plan. They would leave [[Tikal]] poorly defended, and then the [[Egyptains]], [[Greeks]], [[Japanese]] and [[Romans]] would try to conquer it. Once this happened, most nations believed the Aztecs were completely defeated. However, the Aztecs were building up their fourth Empire. The [[~~third~~ Aztec ~~empire~~]] fell, but all its territories remained damaged and were not reinhabited. Following this, the Aztecs continued their mass expansion. They created [[Tenochtitlan]], their new capital. Also introducing the [[Templo Mayor]] again, which they also built in the [[Second Aztec Empire]]. This temple is meant for the god of the sun and war, [[Huitzilopochtli]], and the god of rain and thunder, [[Tlaloc]]. They would also create a number of other cities. 	The Aztecs had very few enemies in the area since no one knew of their existance. The [[Aztecs]] were believed to be exterminated. However, the Aztecs found out about a large empire to the east. This was the [[Mongolian Empire]], lead by [[Genghis Khan]]. The Mongolians wanted revenge, as they were attacked and eradicated in the start of the [[Third Aztec Empire]]. The Mongolian Empire declared war on the Aztec Empire and they fought, to which the Aztecs feared a stalemate. The [[Aztec Emperor]], [[Montezuma II]], asked the [[Mayas]] to use the [[Mayan phase temple]] to end the phase. In the following years the war would turn into a stalemate whilst the portals to the [[~~third phase~~]] opened. There was only one portal, in the middle of [[Tenochtitlan]]. This was the next Aztec plan. The Aztecs would protect the portal at all costs and go through the portal themselves, leaving some Aztec guards behind. However, the conditions became harsh, as the world started to burn. Empires constantly attacked Tenochtitlan. The Fourth Aztec Empire would crumble apart and the Aztecs guarding the portal would enter it to escape the misery. This resulted in other empires being able to go through the portal and enter the third phase aswell. Only at the end when empires became desperate to escape this phase did it become clear that the Aztecs were not extinct and instead had a fourth empire.
